7 Heart Smart New Year Resolutions

It’s that time year when we are looking for ways to improve, change and be healthier. What better way to start 2015 than with some easy ways to improve your health and protect your heart.

We’ve put together our top heart smart New Year resolutions:

1) Get colorful: Eat a variety of deeply colored fruits and vegetables
2) Grains are good: Eat unrefined fiber-rich whole-grain foods
3) Try the catch of the day: Eat fish at least twice a week
4) Cut back: Reduce the number of saturated and trans fat foods you consume
5) Opt for flavor, not sugar: Avoid foods with added sugar
6) Say “no” to salt: Prepare foods with little or no salt
7) Lean is in: Choose skinless lean meats and poultry – and if you have to add fat, choose olive oil and other healthy fats.
